CUSTOM POOL / CHARLOTTE METRO AREA

A Charlotte-area pool with a place to put your feet up.

Two loungers sit in the shallow water just outside the covered patio. This Patriot project shows how the space beside the house and the entrance to the pool can become part of the same daily routine.

The first few steps outside matter.

The photo puts the sun shelf close to the covered patio. It is easy to see how someone could move from a shaded chair to a place in the water without crossing a large yard. The patio roof, ceiling fan and poolside seating form the setting around the water.

Use that relationship as a design question for your house. Where do you actually step outside? Which door carries towels, drinks and dinner? A beautiful pool at the far end of the yard can feel different from one placed within the routes you already use. Ask to see those routes on the layout.

Decide what the shelf needs to hold.

Here, the shallow area holds a pair of loungers, a small table and an umbrella. The overhead photograph shows the steps and the boundary between this sitting area and the larger swimming area. The shelf is a defined feature, rather than furniture placed into the main pool.

Bring the intended furniture into the design discussion early. The pool plan needs to account for the furniture manufacturer’s depth requirements, entry and exit, umbrella placement and how much swimming room remains. A photograph cannot establish the water depth or dimensions of this project, so these are questions to resolve for your own design.

Look at the dry space too.

A covered patio beside the water can change the way a pool gets used. It provides a place to sit while someone else swims and a separate setting for time outside. In these images, the pool edge, paving and furniture are visually connected to that covered area.

If you already have a porch or patio, show what is staying. Discuss finished levels, the route between dry and wet areas, drainage and where furniture will sit. Include planting and privacy in the same drawing so the final pool does not use the space you expected to keep for another activity.

Turn a photo you like into a useful brief.

Write down what caught your eye: the two-seat shelf, the short route from shade to water, or the pale surfaces around the edge. That short list is more useful than asking a builder to reproduce an image without knowing your property.

Patriot’s original caption confirms a custom design and build in the Charlotte metro area. It does not publish a construction method, dimensions, cost or build duration. Your project needs its own site review, material choices and written scope. Start with your city, ZIP code and the way you want to use the yard.

TAKE THIS INTO YOUR OWN CONVERSATION

What to look at in your yard.

  • Begin with the back door and existing covered space.
  • Specify shelf furniture and intended use before fixing the shallow-area layout.
  • Compare the amount of sitting space with the swimming room you want to retain.
